Horiens and Stefanini Rafael: partnership to support companies in their cyber resilience journey

It is nothing new that the cybersecurity agenda is currently on the agenda of 10 out of 10 companies. Successful cyberattacks around the world have brought losses estimated at $6 trillion by 2021, number that is expected to rise to $10.5 trillion by 2025. In this growing scenario of risks, Brazil is the second country with the highest volume of this type of crime, second only to the United States.

But if cyber-attacks are increasingly common and sophisticated, the way companies mitigate risk and defend themselves from cyber-threats also needs to be very well planned and executed.

With this in mind, Horiens, in partnership with Stefanini Rafael, Stefanini Group’s joint venture specialized in cybersecurity, is taking another step in its mission to support companies in managing cyber risks.

On Monday, August 15, the companies announced a jointly created cyber risk management model with a major differentiator: bringing a new look to business continuity strategies, uniting Horiens’ enterprise and operational risk intelligence experience with Stefanini Rafael’s cyber-attack prevention and mitigation intelligence.

The companies participated in the steftalks event, promoted by Stefanini Rafael for guests. José Bernardo de Medeiros, director of risk and insurance, and Márcio Santos, risk manager ahead of Risk Labs, Horiens’ data laboratory, attended the event on behalf of Horiens. Leidivino Natal, the company’s CEO, and Mary Ballesta, director of innovation, participated on behalf of Stefanini Rafael.

How does the working model of cyber resilience created by companies work?

The crux of the proposed model is to have companies look at cybersecurity from the outside of the technology environment and to cross-reference vulnerabilities with the associated operational and financial impacts.

The most usual in the market today are strategies that address the issue by means of security frameworks and, therefore, end up being generic, not very adherent to the business risk profile.

“The key point of our methodology is to make cyber risks tangible within the business reality, identifying vulnerabilities, quantifying impacts, and aggregating effective strategies for risk mitigation. It is an end to end approach”, explains José Bernardo, from Horiens.

“These strategies range from the identification of vulnerabilities and application of state-of-the-art technical solutions, a territory where Stefanini Rafael has extensive know-how, to the transfer of risks to the insurance market and strategies of mutualization of retained risks with companies of the same segment, areas of expertise of Horiens,” adds José Bernardo.

For Leidivino Natal, from Stefanini Rafael, the challenge is always to look from the outside in, constantly evaluating the companies’ degree of exposure, mitigating risks, and preparing the organization to respond quickly, going beyond the so-called base line of security. “It is our DNA to think like a hacker to understand the attack in depth, with the use of artificial intelligence, 24×7 operation, and continuous monitoring to fix possible vulnerabilities, anticipating what the hacker is planning,” emphasizes Leidivino.
